Parish Notes, 24th February 2013
Theme for the 2nd. Sunday of Lent :
The experience of the “transfiguration” in today’s Gospel is an important one. It gives those involved – Jesus and his apostles – the strength for the difficult journey ahead. This Lent, may we also be renewed in our journey of life. In particular, we pray that our own ‘transfiguration’ moments may truly change us to live lives of loving service for those most in need of our help and support. ”We pray for the poor and marginalised people of the world, especially like the Paraja family photoed on this year’s Trocaire box; that we may never forget your call to love these the least of your peoples as you have loved us “.
( Your Trocaire Box awaits you at the door as you leave Mass!! )

The Marriage Proposal
This is the story of two elderly people living in a Florida mobile home park. He was a widower and she a widow. Now, one evening there was a dinner dance and the two were at the same table, across from one another. As the meal went on, he made a few admiring glances at her and finally gathered up his courage to ask her, "Will you marry me?" After about six seconds of 'careful consideration,' she answered. "Yes, Yes, I will." The meal ended and with a few more pleasant exchanges, they went their respective ways. Next morning, he was troubled. Did she say 'yes' or did she say 'no'? He couldn't remember. So with trepidation, he went to the telephone and called her. First, he explained to her that he didn't remember as well as he used to. As he gained a little more courage, he inquired of her, "When I asked if you would marry me, did you say 'Yes' or did you say 'No'?" He was delighted to hear her say, "Why, I said, 'Yes, yes I will' and I meant it with all my heart." Then she continued, "And I am so glad that you called, because I couldn't remember who had asked me."
