Parish Notes 10th June 2012
Corpus Christi
It was not by accident that the Feast of Corpus Christi was chosen to open the 50th. Eucharistic Congress in Dublin this year. “O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving, be every moment thine”. The congress takes place every four years in different countries and pilgrims have already begun to arrive in Dublin from all over the world to participate in this celebration of the Eucharist, our greatest gift from God. 3000 volunteers have been beavering away for months to ensure that all is perfect for this week long celebration of faith and culture. The challenge for the 2012 congress is precisely one of deepening communion in a world where many forms of community have collapsed. The RDS will be laid out as a “Eucharistic Village”. The central focus for each day will be the celebration of the Mass and a keynote address given by a visiting bishop. There will be testimonies given by lay people from around the world who have a story of faith to tell. Workshops in various languages, as well as theatrical and musical performances, will be on offer throughout the week. The congress venue will also include a prayer space, a youth space and an exhibition space.
BUS FOR CROKE PARK MASS
17th June for those who have given their names the bus is leaving St Joseph's at 11.30 Sharp and returning at 6pm. Cost €10. Pay at the Parish Office or on the Bus.
Our Parish had a most enjoyable Pilgrim Walk last Wednesday. 26 of us met at the DART station at noon and headed for St. Ann’s Church in Dawson St. where we made our first stop on the pilgrim way. A pilgrim walk is a journey inwards as well as outwards and affords us a chance to realise that our lives are filled with responsibilities and distractions and we need time to see what is really important. We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day and so we continued on our walk to some of the oldest Catholic Churches in the City of Dublin, Whitefriar St., James St., John’s Lane, Church St., St. Michans and the Pro Cathedral. At this stage our feet were beginning to tell their story ! Each of us received a passport at the beginning of the walk which was stamped at each church we visited and a certificate at the end of the journey. Most enjoyable walk (stroll !) lasting 5 hours. The Congress Experience is one not to be missed ; it is filled with memories for a lifetime! www.dublindiocese.ie

We have all learned to live with "voice mail" as a necessary part of modern life. But, have you wondered, what if God decided to install voice mail? Imagine praying and hearing this: Thank you for calling My Father's House. Please select one of the following options: - Press 1 for Requests - Press 2 for Thanksgiving - Press 3 for Complaints - Press 4 for All Other Inquiries. What if God used the familiar excuse... "I'm sorry; all of our angels are busy helping other saints right now. However, your prayer is important to us and will be answered in the order it was received, so please stay on the line." Can you imagine getting these responses as you call God in Prayer? If you would like to speak to: - Gabriel, Press 1 - Michael, Press 2 - For a directory of other angels, Press 3
If you'd like to hear King David sing a psalm while you are holding, please press 4. - To find out if a loved one has been assigned to Heaven, Press 5, enter his or her social security number, then press the euro key.
Recently Deceased: Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Lyn O'Sullivan whose funeral took place here recently. Rest in peace.
