Parish Notes, 3rd October 2010
Introduction: All readings
today speak of faith. The
prophet is feeling the burden of
office. He complains about the
prevalence of injustice and God’s
failure to intervene. God counsels
patience and Jesus says that a
grain of faith can achieve great
things. With faith, what looks
impossible can become possible.
The saying about the uprooting of
a tree is not to be taken in a literal
sense. It is simply a vivid eastern
mode of expression.
The boss was complaining in our staff meeting the other day that he wasn't getting any respect. The next day, he brought a small sign that read:"I'm the Boss!" He then taped it to his office door. Later that day when he returned from lunch, he found that someone had taped a note to the sign that said "Your wife called, she wants her sign back!"
